Faerie Tales from an Artist & Tarot Reader

August 2017 Tarot Forecast

With The Emperor reversed we embrace the freedom that comes with loosening the rules this August. We find ourselves with more time, less responsibility and fewer obligations. We can allow ourselves the freedom to make things up as we go. We may not have to answer to anyone else for the next little while, which feels like a welcome change. We are no longer compelled to follow guidelines or others expectations of us. We can now set the tone and the pace and enjoy the ease of a break. I was drawn to the sphere in the Emperor’s hands, which made me think that this month we can give ourselves permission to drop the ball. If that means letting things go, or just putting them on the back burner for a while. We can always pick things up again if we need to at a later date.

Our challenge this month comes from the Knight of Cups reversed. He warns us not to become so lazy or complacent that we forget to keep up the momentum that earned us this welcome break or newfound freedom to begin with. Although this is a physical break, it may not be a mental one, and at some point we must acknowledge that the time for fun won’t last forever. For some of us, however, the Knight of Cups may foretell some moody tendencies, especially for those who are used to a lot of structure and discipline. Having less to do may cause sulkiness or temperamental agitation in some people. If that sounds like you, then your challenge this month is to find ways to stay busy while having fun.

Our call to action or advice for August when it comes to handling all this laid back energy is to enjoy it, but keep our brains and ideas active. This break from work and bustling activity provides us with an opportunity to think about where we want to go next on our journey. What ideas can we come up with and how can we plan for a better future? Utilize this time to re-energize and rejuvenate, but also prepare for whatever direction you want to go next in life.
